Pupil Leadership
Pupil leadership plays a vital role in life at our school, providing children with opportunities to develop confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of community. Through a wide range of leadership roles, pupils are encouraged to share their ideas, represent their peers and contribute positively to school life. We believe that by empowering children in this way, they not only grow as individuals but also help to shape a supportive, inclusive and inspiring environment for everyone.
Our leadership structure is rooted in democracy. Pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 have the opportunity to stand for election, delivering speeches to their peers before taking part in a formal vote. This process supports the development of confidence, communication skills and an understanding of fairness and representation.
The School Council is made up of pupils from across the school who meet regularly to discuss key aspects of school life. They gather views from their classes, raise important issues and take an active role in organising events and leading projects, including improvements to school lunches and playground facilities.
Selected pupils also represent the school as part of the WISE Pupil Leadership Team, working alongside children from other schools within the Trust. This provides valuable opportunities to collaborate, share ideas and contribute to wider school improvement.
Our World Warriors take the lead in promoting sustainability. They encourage environmentally friendly practices, lead recycling initiatives, help care for the school environment and raise awareness of important environmental issues.
Our Fundraising Champions, drawn from Year 5 and Year 6, play an important role in supporting the school community. They work together to plan and organise a range of fundraising activities, including after-school tuck shops, whole-school movie nights and themed clubs. Through these initiatives, they develop creativity, teamwork and an understanding of how they can make a positive contribution to school life.
We believe that leadership and responsibility should be experienced by all pupils, not just those in formal roles. Responsibility begins in the classroom and extends throughout the school day.
As Classroom Monitors, every child takes turns to support their learning environment, from organising resources to ensuring the classroom remains tidy and ready for learning.
In addition, Assembly Monitors from Year 5 and Year 6 take on further responsibility by supporting staff during Celebration Assemblies, helping with organisation and modelling positive behaviour. Year 6 pupils also serve as Playground Equipment Monitors, taking responsibility for setting out equipment each day, ensuring it is safely stored afterwards, and reporting any damage to staff.
